Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how RaterSidekick collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website, dashboard, browser extension and ChatGPT connection.

What Chrome's Data Labels Mean

The Chrome Web Store asks every extension to declare the categories of data it handles. The labels and examples are Google's, they are the same for every extension, and they apply even to data that never leaves your device. Here is what each label we declare actually means for RaterSidekick.

  • User activity

    What it means here:
When your work sessions start and end, when you complete a task, and how long it took.
    What it never covers:
What you type, the content of the page, or where else you browse.
  • Personally identifiable information

    What it means here:
The email address on your RaterSidekick account, and the account it stores your records under.
    What it never covers:
Your home address, your phone number, or your sign-in details for any rating platform.
  • Authentication information

    What it means here:
The sign-in token that keeps you signed in, held on your device and sent only to RaterSidekick.
    What it never covers:
Your password. You type it on our sign-in provider's page, and it never passes through RaterSidekick.

Why Chrome shows "User activity"

Chrome uses one label for every extension that reacts to a click or a key press, and there is no finer setting available to us. RaterSidekick reacts to two things, on the sites you choose: the submit button you point it at during setup, and the shortcut you set. It never records what you type - not on our servers, and not on your device. Only the outcome syncs: task completed, when, and how long it took.

Information We Collect

  • Account and profile information: information you provide to access and use the service.
  • Successful login records: when an interactive sign-in to the dashboard or an instrumented extension release succeeds, we record the account, product, timestamp, and client version. Opening an existing session, refreshing a token, a failed sign-in, and signing out do not create a login record. Older extension releases may not record successful sign-ins.
  • Core work activity: the tracked-work and task-completion records created when you use RaterSidekick's work tracking features. We use these existing records for work reporting and product-usage insight; we do not send task contents to analytics services.
  • Support and communications: information you send when you contact us or submit questions, feedback, or support requests.
  • Billing and transaction information: plan, subscription, and payment-related details needed to manage access to paid features.
  • Optional private work records: platform-history imports, pay periods, rates, expected payment dates and amounts, payment records and notes you confirm or add, rate history, quality-journal text, tax-jurisdiction preference, and evidence packs you ask us to generate.
  • Technical and analytics information: device, browser, log, and basic analytics data used to operate, secure, and improve the service.

Information We Do Not Collect

RaterSidekick never records your screen, your typing, or your work. We do not store or transmit screenshots, screen recordings, keystrokes, clipboard content, prompts, answers, ratings, comments, task content, page text, or attachments.

When you point the extension at your submit button during setup, the location and label of that one button are saved on your device so the extension can match it later. They are never transmitted to us, and they are the only page-derived values the extension keeps.

There is no optional activity-sharing program, and neither the dashboard nor the extension asks you for telemetry permission. We do not collect page or extension-surface session measurements, product opens, or logout events, and we do not collect website addresses, routes, query strings, or form values.

How We Use Information

  • Provide and operate the extension and dashboard.
  • Deliver time tracking, reporting, and productivity insights.
  • Compare your selected records and generate private summaries or evidence files when you request them.
  • Provide customer support and respond to inquiries.
  • Process subscriptions and manage plan access.
  • Improve product performance and troubleshoot issues.
  • Understand whether and when accounts successfully sign in and use core work-tracking features.

We do not use your information for advertising, employee monitoring, productivity scoring, individualized sales targeting, or credit and eligibility decisions. We do not sell it, and we do not share it with data brokers or advertising platforms.

Limited Use Compliance

RaterSidekick's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Human access to account-linked activity is restricted to authorized operations for the disclosed purposes above, except when required for security, legal compliance, or with your affirmative agreement.

Document Reading and AI Processing

Import History and Pay Checker accept work history and payment files. We use OpenAI to read payslips and other documents into structured rows. Some work-history CSV and XLSX files are read directly by RaterSidekick; those files may also be sent to OpenAI when direct reading cannot interpret them.

When AI reading is used, we send the file you upload, available website names and addresses for matching, and a pseudonymous account identifier. We do not send your tracked activity or existing work-history rows for this purpose.

Your original file is stored temporarily for processing and deleted automatically through completion and cleanup. Extracted rows and import and payment records are saved to your history. Deleting an import removes its imported rows and recalculates your results.

Connecting RaterSidekick to ChatGPT

When you connect RaterSidekick to ChatGPT, the data shared with ChatGPT comes from your own RaterSidekick account. This includes work you track and records you choose to import or save there, such as work-history reports and payment records. The connector does not connect to your work platforms or retrieve data directly from them.

RaterSidekick sends the account information needed to answer your requests. Depending on the permissions you grant, this can include account access status, saved work names, task and time totals, pay rates, estimated earnings, saved payment amounts and dates, and time or task goals. The connection does not let ChatGPT change those records.

The connector does not read your inbox or receive email bodies or attachments. If you provide a payslip in ChatGPT or use another connected app, ChatGPT can use its work dates to request matching records from your RaterSidekick account. It compares the results in your conversation. OpenAI's terms, privacy policy and your ChatGPT settings govern information held in ChatGPT.

We keep connection status, security controls and limited usage records to operate this service. Query logs contain the tool name, duration and success or failure, not your questions, work figures or payment amounts. We retain those logs for 14 days. Temporary sign-in and pagination records expire. Connection status remains until account erasure.

You can revoke this connection through RaterSidekick's connection settings without deleting your work records. Contact [email protected] to request account deletion. Deleting RaterSidekick data does not remove copies already in a ChatGPT conversation.

Sharing and Service Providers

We share data only with trusted processors needed to run the service, such as hosting, billing, analytics, communications, support, and the AI provider described above. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a business transfer.

We use PostHog in the United States for product analytics. We send an account identifier, activity name and timestamp, product, client version, account category, environment, and an event identifier used to prevent duplicate delivery. These records cover successful sign-ins, tracked-work milestones, task completion, and completed imports. We do not send email addresses, IP addresses, filenames, task or page contents, or session recordings through this integration.

Data Retention and Security

Detailed tracked task events are retained for the life of the account on RaterSidekick Pro, Expert, and Grandfathered Pro; for 365 days on Grandfathered Plus; and for 90 days on Grandfathered Basic. Day-level work summaries and retained imported or user-entered work records remain for the life of the account unless you delete an item where that control is offered or request account deletion. On the grandfathered plans a work record can therefore cover more time than its available task or session detail.

Ending a subscription does not delete your work data. Your records stay in your account when a subscription lapses or is cancelled, and they are available to you again as soon as you resubscribe. Work data is removed only when you delete an item where that control is offered, or when you request account deletion.

Generated evidence-pack files expire after 30 days. Their pack records and integrity manifests remain until you delete them or your account is deleted. Quality-journal entries remain until you delete them or your account is deleted. Raw dashboard and extension login records are retained for up to 90 days, daily login counts for up to 396 days, and first and last login timestamps for the life of the account. We use HTTPS in transit and encryption at rest, together with administrative and technical access controls.

Your Choices

  • You can update certain settings and preferences in the service.
  • Where offered, you can delete quality-journal entries and evidence-pack records and their live files from the service.
  • You choose which websites the extension runs on, and you can disconnect a site at any time.
  • You can stop using the extension or dashboard at any time.
  • Successful login and core work activity records are part of operating the account and are not an optional product setting.
  • You can contact us to ask about access, updates, or deletion requests related to your information.
